- Safe Plates Event
Sat 16th Oct
Safe Plates day at Waitakere College, was a fantastic
event, well run
and well attended. Participation by both police and volunteers
ensured the exercise ran smoothly. Three Committee members, five
Street Contacts, two employees and five other volunteers
attended - some in both roles. A “Safe Plates” programme has
also been held in Te Atatu Peninsula, and in Oratia. Both were
very successful events that also led to more households signing
up for Neighbourhood Support along with the identification of
Street Contacts in both areas.
- Junior Neighbourhood Support 2010
One of the exciting aspects of Junior Neighbourhood
Support is the culmination of our much anticipated Big Day Out.
Throughout the year, we work closely with our participating
schools to promote the JNS program and present awards. At the
end of each year, two children from each school are selected
from the award winners to join us in a fun filled day – this
year being Rainbows End!
Children representing Birdwood, Don Buck, Flanshaw, Fruitvale,
Henderson North, New Lynn, Prospect, Ranui and West Harbour
Primary Schools, met on Tuesday 9th of November at the Henderson
Police Station to meet their ‘buddies’ for the day – we were
lucky enough to be able to take seven Police officers and three
Fire fighters with us to supervise the children and enjoy the
rides.
Spending a day with Police and Fire goes a long way in cementing
the positive relationships that we are trying to encourage with
all children.
