Junior Neighbourhood Support
I would like to introduce myself as the new JNS Coordinator for Waitakere, following on from Samantha Farquhar who has now taken over the City Coordinator Role for Neighbourhood Support Waitakere.
The past six months have been rather hectic but lots of fun, getting out and meeting our participating schools, along with NZ Police and NZ Fire contacts.
Junior Neighbourhood Support’s aim is all about promoting and recognizing pride, safety community spirit shown by children in school and the home/community environment.
One of the exciting aspects of my role is the planning of our JNS Big Day Out – this year we took children from our participating schools on an all expenses paid trip to Rainbows End, where they could hang out with a Police or Fire Officer and enjoy the rides all day long!
Special mention should be given to our major sponsors Event Cinemas Westgate and Westfield Westcity who generously donate vouchers for our JNS Award winners, this all goes towards making it extremely worthwhile to be nominated and receive an award.
The assemblies that I have attended so far to present the JNS Awards have been very welcoming and it has been great to see the outstanding achievements of our younger community members – keep up the great work kids!
